Renewal Problems…No Codes Allowed?

I’m trying to renew (again), and I noticed a change to eHarmony’s website. Usually, I go to My Settings, then Account Settings, where I can change the auto-renew settings or enter a promo code in. This is no longer available, it appears. Now, at the bottom of the page under “Subscription Status” it says the following:

Your subscription expires on: February 3, 2012
The last payment we received was: October 31, 2011 for $44.85
This subscription will auto-renew at: It does not auto-renew
Reactivate My Subscription at: 1 Month Membership for a total price of $29.95.

Review of eHarmony on the iPad

As seen on The Unofficial Apple Weblog

“Unfortunately for eHarmony, my lack of appeal outlasted their service, and despite chatting with a few nice women, none of them wanted to meet me over dinner or drinks. But I can’t fault the iPad app itself.”

More evidence that they should have spent their developer dollars on a better matching algorithm instead of a fancy app, no?

How you Meet your Spouse Matters

by Dr. Gian Gonzaga, February 10, 2011

One of the perks of being the head of eHarmony Labs is that I get to talk to a lot of people about the research behind eHarmony.  It also means that I frequently meet people who met their partner on eHarmony or who have a close friend or relative who did.

It’s always cool to meet eHarmony couples, but we’re now responsible for so many marriages in the United States (nearly 100,000 per year) that it’s no longer surprising when I do meet them.

Several of our larger competitors are also responsible for a lot of marriages in the United States.  That’s not terribly surprising to me either.  Online dating has become the third most-popular way for newlyweds to have met over the past five years.  (Interestingly, for people over age 50, it was the most-popular way to meet and get married.  But that’s the subject of another discussion.)

Only 3% of eharmony members get married, which means Eharmony is NO BETTER than any other dating service and its dues are WAY too high. Let’s do something about it. I keep getting emails from women who want to meet me but I can’t see their pictures because I’m not a member. But they think I can! And …
