They now are offering codes like eH. $9.99/month for 3 months (50% off the normal $59.99 for 3 months).
For what? A site with far less users than Match.com or the free alternatives like OkCupid! or PlentyOfFish?
No, Jazzed, that isn’t going to bring you more subscribers or money. Clearly, their marketing department has failed miserably if several months after release, with the same search, I have the same number of matches that meet my criteria and they have not been active in months. Charging less isn’t going to entice existing members into a subscription.
Here is a better idea that might actually get the company off the ground:
Eat the losses and make the site free for two years (eH is probably still raking in some good money) and continue to work on bringing in new members before you even think about charging users because you aren’t in a position to do so.

As if anyone is actually going to bother with eH during this “dead week”, I got an e-mail saying that eHarmony is having a “Free Communication Event”. I logged into the site to confirm it is guided communication only (no eHarmony Mail).

As expected, it was nothing more than the usual eHarmony marketing machine. About 5 minutes in, it is quite apparent that the “live” element is missing. The video appears to be pre-produced and scripted.

The invitation should be coming to your e-mail inbox soon.

It sounds like a good opportunity for eHB readers to offer some counterpoint to the eHarmony marketing machine…

…but depending on your perspective/goals, do not initiate/respond to new communication with matches during the free event…
[One can read the emphasized sentences for the executive summary...]
I believe that if you turning matching off, you will end up devaluing your subscription by losing out on matches in the long run because eHarmony is based on a fixed period of time (we pay to use the service for a time period and not by each match, like Rewarding Love or other services).
If you leave matching off:
During the free event, you are not receiving any new matches. No rapid back and forth responses to communicate to non-paying members. Your life is nice and easy as you only are dealing with paying members from before the weekend sending you communications (or ones that have lapsed in the interim and still want to try and communicate).
