A new approach in eHarmony

Hi all,

I was getting a little bit disappointed lately that many matches were not requesting communication or answering my request.  So I did something very different and I wanted to share my ‘tactics’ and ‘results’.

For 2 days I collected 14 new matches and then stopped the matching process.  I didn’t click on ANY of those 14 profiles and I gathered this data.

Of those 14 (after 2 weeks): Continue Reading »

I tried with this a long time ago. I just initiate with anyone that doesn't totally repulse me (my success rate is still pathetic considering just how wide a field I am willing to accept). What difference does it really make when they look and when they initiate? Looking at your data, LL, fol …

Tricked again!

Ok, I am a little bit upset right now. My matching has been off for 30 days and the two OC people are still not meeting me and this is (below) what happens next.

I read about the 20 / 20 report about “Science of Love” (that SingleGuyInNC posted about! THANKS!) and since I liked the Helen Fischer in TED talks [check them out in YOUTUBE.. all TED talks are awesome!!], I decided to watch it online.   Five parts, interesting take on dating and my opinion is in the original post of SingleGuyInNC.  Afterwards, I decided to take the ‘free’ test.

Ok, after the test, which again is an indication of nothing much (I am 26% Explorer, 25 % Director, 24% Negotiator and 23% Builder =~ statistically all the same proportions), I check and I have set my profile as not active.

I get home today and it says my profile has been approved AND already there are 7 guys “interested” in me. I go in and of course the setting now says matching ON!!

I also took the Chemistry.com test a while ago, and I recall a rather similar outcome. If I recall correctly, the "Builder" part of me did make it into the 30% range, while the other three aspects were between 20% and 25%. What I find most interesting about the major matchmaking sites is the signi …

My eHarmony Stats

Since I am new around here, I decided to share my stats with you!

The first time I joined was in Nov 2002 for 12 months.  I was active only 6 months.  The first few weeks or so I received 17 matches, 4 went up to stage 3, 3 to OC and I met one guy who I dated for a few months until he found his new wife closer to home.

After matching was set back to ON for again a few weeks, I received 21 matches, 1 up to Stage 2 and two other who I met, one of which dated for 3 years.  I realized now that there were really not that many people on eHarmony, but the only two people I met were very good quality matches.

Before this I was on Match where I dated a few people and had another LTR who currently is one of my best friends.  So I signed up for Match and after over thousands of views, hundreds of e-mails and over 30 dates (horrendous no less!) I signed up with eHarmony for 3 months in October 2006.

Thanks for your comments SingleGuyInNC. It looks like a lot of you here know a lot more about the insights of the site than I do. Yes, if you do want to try Match let me know and I can certainly give you some good tips especifically from a woman's point of view. BTW I started in Match in 1999, …

eHarmony.com Traffic Statistics

  • You really want to know who visits eHarmony.com? 66% women or 83% Caucasian or 63% college educated
  • You really want to know who is addicted to eHarmony.com? 5% of visitors
  • You really want to know where the majority of people checking eHarmony.com are? California

None of these facts are really unexpected, yet it is really nice to see the actual traffic stats.

What IS unexpected, is that of the 3.8 M US visitors (or 4.1M worldwide), 50% are passing by defined as “one single visit to the site per month” while addicts (5%) visit at least once a day.
