It’s no surprise that eHarmony has been looking for buyers for these three sites for some time now. According to the official blog,
Project Wedding, a free wedding planning resource, was acquired by WeddingWire, a leading wedding technology company. Since March 2010, WeddingWire has powered Project Wedding’s local vendor directories and vendor reviews.
Weddingbee and Just Mommies, a top wedding blog and parenting community, were acquired by Internet Brands, which maintains a portfolio of more than 100 websites.
Lori, the community manager provided by eHarmony and the same Lori of eHarmony Advice, made the announcement and formal turn-overs yesterday in their respective sites.
Yesterday concluded eHarmony Canada’s four-day 2011 Victoria Day Free Communications Weekend. Next week May 27-30 is eHarmony US’s Memorial Day Free Communication Weekend.
At sometime on Saturday April 30, eHarmony served its three billionth match. eHarmony’s match ID hit three big ones; That’s the number of pairings the system has made since it started off circa August 2000.
First billion: September 22, 2008
Second billion: February 11, 2010
Third billion: April 30, 2011
Since February 11, 2010, the closely-guarded matching algorithm has generated 2.2 million matches a day, 94 thousand matches an hour, 1.6 matches a minute, or 26 matches a second.
