In two weeks, 22 August 2011, our beloved dating site will celebrate 11 years of helping people find the love of their lives, and making profits in return.
Their 11th year has been quite eventful.
They launched in their first non-English country site, eHarmony Brazil. eHarmony Brazil subscriptions cost $1 a month.
They launched a browse-and-contact dating-site, Jazzed.com in September, but abandoned all efforts on it six months after.
Similarly abandoned was their LGBT dating site, Compatible Partners. Last June these two sites had only around 60,000 unique visitors, each. For comparison, this blog has 44,000 unique visitors per month. Now you tell me they haven’t abandoned these two sites.
Last November, they moved to a bigger office in Sta. Monica, California.
eHarmony Australia broke even, they announced. eHarmony UK, soon, we hope.
The Privacy Commissioner of Canada investigated eHarmony Canada and scolded it for storing its user’s personal information indefinitely. Why so ever would they delete it?
Last January, eHarmony’s CEO jumped ship to become CEO of a venture capitalist firm, and the COO took over.
Last February, eHarmony went back to selling books, hoping it will do better “the second time around”. The book is currently the #5 bestselling book on dating in Amazon.com. Congratulations.
Last February, eHarmony Advice was hacked, and 20,000 email addresses were stolen. Since around February and even earlier, the addresses we used to register in EHA indeed started receiving spam. We can’t say for sure, but some of the email addresses we used to register in the main eHarmony site (such as those we used in 2006) started receiving spam, too.
Last April, Warren, now 76, returned from retirement to reendorse his legacy to television viewers.
Last April, they reached 40 million user profiles and 3 billion match IDs.
In June, they sold off the rest of their non-dating-site web properties, JustMommies, ProjectWedding and the top-5,000 site, WeddingBee.com. I hope Jazzed and Compatible Partners won’t be next to be axed.
eHarmony Japan’s launch is at least five months delayed.
All in all, a news-worthy year. As we do every year, we look forward to their anniversary press release. Happy Birthday eHarmony!
eHarmony is now a 11 years old obsolete site, a HOAX. You cannot stay 11 years in the Online Dating Industry without innovating, saying "scientifically proven" and eHarmony does not have any proof (peer reviewed scientific paper) and scamming members with automatic rebilling.
And eDarling (eHarmo …
In its 2010 Annual Report to Parliament, published 21 June 2011, the Privacy Commissioner of Canada disclosed the result of its investigation of a privacy complaint against the data retention policies of eHarmony Canada.
Next: automatic re-billing should be forbidden (for all online dating sites).

Last November 21, the Washington Post quoted eHarmony’s then-CEO Greg Waldorf saying,
“In a study eHarmony researchers did in September and October 2009, they found that people were committing more time to finding a long-term relationship when economic news was very bad. For example, on days when the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 100 points or more, eHarmony saw nearly a 2% increase in the number of pages people viewed on the site, compared to days when the Dow increased by 100 points or more.”
Will this drop be good news and counteract the recent fall in traffic at the dating site?
Absolutely, they brought the good old Dr. Warren back because they are hurting. For the past several years we have not seen hide nor hair of him. Quite frankly I felt his presence somewhat hurt the site in the beginning....Saturday night live calling it "ME" harmony and all. Then this extremely attr …
Good news or bad news, eHarmony has been very quiet in the last two months. It is still “eHarmony and Match” when online dating industry experts talk about “major dating sites”, so we know the site is still “up there”, but we aren’t hearing much about them.
eHarmony Japan started collecting email addresses at the end of May, promising “we’ll let you know when we go live.”
Meanwhile, no features have rolled out since the Smile Button last winter, and since when one can finish the questionnaire and buy a membership subscription from within the latest versions of the eHarmony Android and iOS app.
I don't know which is a worse offense: staging the original cat lady video or staging those kids to respond to it.
If that truly was their reaction, they are in for a surprise when they get a healthy dose of reality when it's their turn to venture out into the wild west of dating. Yeah, "just do …
It’s no surprise that eHarmony has been looking for buyers for these three sites for some time now. According to the official blog,
Project Wedding, a free wedding planning resource, was acquired by WeddingWire, a leading wedding technology company. Since March 2010, WeddingWire has powered Project Wedding’s local vendor directories and vendor reviews.
Weddingbee and Just Mommies, a top wedding blog and parenting community, were acquired by Internet Brands, which maintains a portfolio of more than 100 websites.
Lori, the community manager provided by eHarmony and the same Lori of eHarmony Advice, made the announcement and formal turn-overs yesterday in their respective sites.
Around 43051 marriages (and counting) were matched through eHarmony since March 2, 2005. Around 1337 members married today. - Harris Interactive (Caveat)
