Whoa, that’s not Heather, that’s Annie!

Half-asleep I was creating another profile in eHarmony, as I do every few months for this blog, and I said,

“WHOA, That’s not Heather. That’s Annie!”

Whoa, That's not Heather, that's Annie!

Whoa, That's not Heather, that's Annie!

Annie was poster girl for eHarmony from 2007 to 2009. Members saw this photo of Annie whenever they sign in. Here’s a photo of her here in this blog.

eHarmony appoints Jeremy Verba as CEO

Jeremy Verba has been named eHarmony’s CEO and a member of its Board of Directors. Verba joins eHarmony at a compelling time in the brand’s history, which includes significant growth in mobile and continued international market expansion.

Verba’s appointment coincides with eHarmony achieving significant milestones in mobile platforms and internationally. In 2011, eHarmony has seen mobile app downloads surpass the one million mark. Consumers on average are downloading eHarmony’s iPhone, iPad and Android mobile apps over 10,000 times a day and more than 30 percent of eHarmony’s user registrations are currently taking place within the mobile environment.

The company continues to see significant growth internationally–now operating in 16 countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil, and through its affiliation with eDarling, in 11 countries in continental Europe.

Following its CEO jumping ship, three Vice Presidents leave eHarmony

Jim Lambert (LinkedIn bio) ended his 48-month stint in eHarmony this month as its Vice President for Human Resources.

Mark Zamuner left eHarmony last month as its Vice President for Acquisition Marketing. Zamuner joined last November coming from Ocean Media, Inc., one of eHarmony’s media partners.

Scott Eagle left last February as Vice President for Marketing. Grant Hosford (linkedin bio), Senior Director, now heads EH marketing. Eagle’s resignation closely followed the resignation of Greg Waldorf as eHarmony CEO last January.

eHarmony’s Management webpage yesterday announced that Cary Berger, eHarmony chief legal counsel, now also leads eHarmony corporate communications. Yeah, this means the media and the public gotta talk to eHarmony’s lawyer if they have any inquiries.

Advance Happy 11th Birthday, eHarmony!

In two weeks, 22 August 2011, our beloved dating site will celebrate 11 years of helping people find the love of their lives, and making profits in return.

Their 11th year has been quite eventful.

  • They launched in their first non-English country site, eHarmony Brazil. eHarmony Brazil subscriptions cost $1 a month.
  • They launched a browse-and-contact dating-site, Jazzed.com in September, but abandoned all efforts on it six months after.
  • Similarly abandoned was their LGBT dating site, Compatible Partners. Last June these two sites had only around 60,000 unique visitors, each. For comparison, this blog has 44,000 unique visitors per month. Now you tell me they haven’t abandoned these two sites.
  • Last November, they moved to a bigger office in Sta. Monica, California.
  • eHarmony Australia broke even, they announced. eHarmony UK, soon, we hope.
  • The Privacy Commissioner of Canada investigated eHarmony Canada and scolded it for storing its user’s personal information indefinitely. Why so ever would they delete it?
  • Last January, eHarmony’s CEO jumped ship to become CEO of a venture capitalist firm, and the COO took over.
  • Last February, eHarmony went back to selling books, hoping it will do better “the second time around”. The book is currently the #5 bestselling book on dating in Amazon.com. Congratulations.
  • Last February, eHarmony Advice was hacked, and 20,000 email addresses were stolen. Since around February and even earlier, the addresses we used to register in EHA indeed started receiving spam. We can’t say for sure, but some of the email addresses we used to register in the main eHarmony site (such as those we used in 2006) started receiving spam, too.
  • Last April, Warren, now 76, returned from retirement to reendorse his legacy to television viewers.
  • Last April, they reached 40 million user profiles and 3 billion match IDs.
  • In June, they sold off the rest of their non-dating-site web properties, JustMommies, ProjectWedding and the top-5,000 site, WeddingBee.com. I hope Jazzed and Compatible Partners won’t be next to be axed.
  • eHarmony Japan’s launch is at least five months delayed.

All in all, a news-worthy year. As we do every year, we look forward to their anniversary press release. Happy Birthday eHarmony!

eHarmony is now a 11 years old obsolete site, a HOAX. You cannot stay 11 years in the Online Dating Industry without innovating, saying "scientifically proven" and eHarmony does not have any proof (peer reviewed scientific paper) and scamming members with automatic rebilling. And eDarling (eHarmo …
