eHarmony Blog hits 500-article mark

Hey, self-aggrandisement ahead.

What began as a personal journal of a three-month $44.85 eHarmony subscription is now the most comprehensive, most opinionated and most visited weblog on an online dating website.

In February 2007, we asked, “Would it be good if eHarmony had a message board?” In November 2007, they began one, called eHarmony Advice. This month, eHarmony is hiring a VP for Internet Content, a Community Manager, a Social Networking Manager, a Production Editor and several writers for it. Hey, we created several jobs!

Google Analytics: August 2006 to May 2008

Across 500 articles we watched eHarmony grow, change questionnaires, switch databases, get sued (twice), add features, open three blogs, and open in two new countries. We clipped each and every news story, whether on paper, on TV or on the radio. We witnessed weddings, unexpected subscription renewals, eight free communication weekends, countless email nags and Ghana scammers and met several wonderful people. What a tale!

Thank you everyone for joining the discussion. Thank you for all the feedback. Here’s to another 500 articles!

    Congratulations eHarmony Blog,

It takes a lot of work to maintain a blog and write good content to keep people coming back.

    Cheers to the next 500!

Thanks Scott and Tom. I wish I was a ‘relationship expert’ and be able to write dating advice and give counseling. Not my field! Right now I’m at a loss of ideas on how to grow the eHB community … I mean how can I be more like advice.eharmony.com, or even better? How can I have more people share and discuss their dating experiences?

Your community here is growing (according to your Analytics chart) but it is difficult. You should continue on the path you started. I don’t think you should compete directly with eHarmony Advice, you can’t, you don’t have the man power. Just keep putting the personal spin you have been doing on your stories and articles and your blog will continue to grow.
