This is a small eHarmony annoyance that many people discover too late.
You cannot do paragraphing in your About Me page and in your answers to 2nd round questions.
Your answers to the About Me questions and to the open-ended questions show up as one gob of text. Headings, bullet points, asterisks and paragraphing, all that which makes reading your answers easier, are all ignored.
One ugly formatting trick to overcome this is using a line of underscores, e.g., _________________________________________________ to force a new line. Another is a short series of asterisks or to indicate a separate chain of thought. ****** A third is the unicode character for non-breaking space — In Windows, hold the alt key then press 0-1-6-0 on the numeric keypad, then release the alt key — then copy/paste the space-looking character to multiply its instances.
The only place paragraphing works is the Open Communication message board. Thank eHarmony for that!
When you read a webpage and see a paragraph seven lines long, do you read it from start to finish?! See, no one does. Reading long paragraphs from a computer screen hurts the eyes. Because there’s no paragraphing, this tip means we have to keep replies short.
