Tamsen McDonough — Canadian TV and film celebrity, eHarmony Reject

Tamsen McDonoughTamsen McDonough, Toronto- and Vancouver-based actress, model and fashion writer, in an email to The Consumerist last March:

“I, too, have been discriminated against by eHarmony though for a different reason.

“I don’t believe there’s anything really wrong with me. I think I’m a fairly well-adjusted, healthy, edumacated, fun, hopefully interesting writer and part time model here in Toronto and yet, based on my personality profile, I was completely rejected by eHarmony. They said something to the effect that I was not suitable for any of their (1000′s and 1000′s) of members.

“Let me tell you, that was a blow that I did not need after having a seriously tricky time out in the dating world. In my pea brained head, that basically said to me that not one of the men on their vast member list would like me – it was pretty disheartening and has really put a dent in my dating confidence.”

Don’t be discouraged Tamsen. Your picture is great and, if anything, may intimidate guys. The old story with gorgeous women is that guys assume they have no chance with you. I’ve been using Eharmony for a few months and find its claims to be overly optimistic. It’s geared to people who are willing to communicate and who buy into their process, and are willing to move to Botswanna if that’s where their Soul Mate appears. I have found that most matches are not as participative as I. Guys don’t seem to be willing to keep chatting and see where it goes. And now that Christie Brinkley is back on the market, I’m toast. In short, it’s not all that the marketing claims. You’re better off without it.
