Hey, in case someone from eHarmony reads this…. Here’s my list of eHarmony.com website bugs and other irritations.
1. The 3-for-1 “promo”. C’mon, make it a standard price already. Stop badgering your registrants. No wonder free dating sites are gaining popularity.
2. I have to click twice on every reply submission. I thought there was something wrong with my browser, but no, I visited your site on IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera, Safari, on different computers, and the site still won’t “submit” the first time I click «send».
And yeah, hitting “Back” will lose everything I’ve typed.
3. Showing ads to paying members, especially for that crappy Premium Personality Profile. I won’t be surprised I’ll see Classmates.com popups soon. Getting response rates below 0.0000001% should tell you something…
4. Ask somewhere in the test (and, even better, every few weeks or so, after a member signs in) HOW READY the member is to (1) go on dates and (2) spend enough time with someone to build a healthy relationship with him or her. ASK CONFIRMATION that are not already IN a relationship. Make members click a “YES” button before continuing to view their matches (or receive more). I’ve heard comments that it is
impossible for a computer personality questionnaire to evaluate and detect a person’s readiness to start a relationship, but, hey, all it’s gotta do is ask!
If no, THEN do the honest thing and inform their active matches.
“He’s taken, good luck next time everybody.”
5. YES is a Yes, MAYBE is a Maybe. If you do match MAYBEs to YESes, then match MAYBEs to NOs, too. Otherwise, it’s stupid.
6. They edit profiles without notice or asking permission. Someone from eHarmony edited my About Me answers and removed the “I’m a paid member until Sept 27, 2007″. This line is not a violation of anything!!
Their explanation: It’s their website and they can do whatever they want.
7. … the HOLD Survey Popup! “Please let us know why you’re putting Ms. Match on hold.” Uh, isn’t that what the Hold screen has asked? D’ya hafta ask it again? And look, the popup has MORE reasons than the Hold screen choices. That’s funny.
Please add more of your own below.
