Many eHarmony members presume that when their membership expires they are not “in the system” anymore, and are blocked from their matches and their previous communications. It’s a misconception.
Question:
I haven’t responded to this guy for a couple of weeks because I was focusing on another match. That match went nowhere, so I’ve decided to put my attention back to this guy. I notice that he hasn’t closed me, but I don’t know if he is still on the system. If I send him a reply, will he be able to read it?
Answer:
If you guys have reached Open Communication, yes. In Open Communication, you can write as many times as you want, without waiting for a reply, and your match will always get a notification email. If he cares, he can log in and click on “New Message.”
So here’s what to do: click “Write New Message”, apologize for the delayed response, and show him some interest. If he doesn’t reply in a couple of days, click “Write New Message” again and share your email address.
In guided communication, it’s tricky. eHarmony blocks unpaid members from reading replies from matches. It blocks any reply: the first message in FastTrack, your answers to Stage 1 questions, your Must Have Can’t Stands, your answers to Stage 2 questions and your first message in OC. Well, the term is not really “block” because an unpaid member can still manipulate certain URLs to view the response.
So, in the guided communication phase, unless he knows how to manipulate URLs, he won’t be able to read your message. Furthermore, the process is stuck there, and you cannot send another message.
So, the next time you want to leave a match hanging, strive to get him to OC first.
