Mahar’s site was the first eHarmony advice site I found. His general theme – to be gentle, let the woman set the pace, make her feel “comfortable and safe”, etc. – has proven quite useless to me. I fell deeply into the “failure spiral” that Scott Grey warns about so clearly on “eHarmony Cracked” – when the matches did not respond or closed me for no apparent reason, I took it personally and edited my profile in an attempt to make it totally inoffensive. Which made it bland, stale and totally uninteresting. Which only made my problems worse. I’ve “manned up” again and put some teeth back in my profile, and I’m sleeping at night again.

There’s clearly an art to success at eHarmony, and it’s based on building mystery and intrigue. This site and Grey’s clearly get that. Mahar seems to have had a completely different experience.

    Tim,

Trying to find an email for you is crazy, and I consider myself google queen.

I was at your romance site, and used a few ideas from your letters to contact someone that was only reading my emails, never responding.

I sent the email yesterday, and this morning, when I signed in, boom..a response. I am afraid to read it. I had to thank you, because all I really wanted was a response from this person.

I am giddy.. now I have to read it!

    Thanks again.
    one way no more.
