eHarmony appoints Jeremy Verba as CEO

Jeremy Verba has been named eHarmony’s CEO and a member of its Board of Directors. Verba joins eHarmony at a compelling time in the brand’s history, which includes significant growth in mobile and continued international market expansion.

Verba’s appointment coincides with eHarmony achieving significant milestones in mobile platforms and internationally. In 2011, eHarmony has seen mobile app downloads surpass the one million mark. Consumers on average are downloading eHarmony’s iPhone, iPad and Android mobile apps over 10,000 times a day and more than 30 percent of eHarmony’s user registrations are currently taking place within the mobile environment.

The company continues to see significant growth internationally–now operating in 16 countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil, and through its affiliation with eDarling, in 11 countries in continental Europe.

I had sent him an email asking how does he plan to retire eHarmony from the Online Dating Industry, to close eHarmony forever because eHarmony is a 11 years old obsolete site.
You cannot stay 11 years in the Online Dating Industry without innovating, saying “scientifically proven” and eHarmony does not have any proof (peer reviewed scientific paper) .
If eHarmony were a medicine, it will be performing as placebo.
The success rate of eHarmony is less than 10%.
The majority, over 90% of eHarmony’s members are not going to achieve a long term relationship with commitment (or marriage) using that site.

They’re saying that their apps get 10,000 downloads a day and bring in 30% of registrations.

I don’t think this is true because according to their user counts in the last six months, eHarmony gets only 12,500 average registrations per day. As we’ve shown, this 12,500 includes incomplete questionnaires.

30% of 12,500 is 3,750. Why would there be 10,000 app downloads a day but only 3,750 app registrations a day? Something is not right.
