How do I archive matches that aren’t communicating?

Is there any way to archive matches that aren’t communicating so they don’t clutter up my communicating tab? I don’t want to close them in case they become active (I’m assuming they are inactive accounts.)

*Walk-through and directions to manually move eHarmony matches from “Communicating” to “Archived” tab Walk-through*

There is only one way I have figured out how to “Archive” matches that have moved to the “Communicating” tab. That is to manually send the HTML command line to “Archive” with your match’s unique 10-digit user ID (*The matches I will use as examples all have 10-digit user IDs, however please keep in mind this may vary in number of digits or possibly any other unique combination of number, digits, and symbols to generate a unique user ID).

Every single eHarmony member has a unique user ID, which is used as part of HTML command lines to 1) Have his or her main profile viewed by a match 2) Be Archived as a match by another matched user 3) Be Closed as a match 4) Receive an eHarmony Mail or Icebreaker, and so forth. 5) In other words, to navigate the eHarmony site.

To manually Archive a match, simply go to his or her main profile page. Select all of the web page address for that main profile page, i.e. “http://www.eharmony.com/singles/servlet/user/comm/review?set=XXXXXXXXXX” The X’s stand for the match’s unique user ID.

Paste that web page address into a word processor program to isolate that unique user ID of the match with whom you are Communicating and wish to Archive.

If you go to a different match, one whom you can Archive through eHarmony user features, scroll over that link to Archive that match. You will notice that link to be “http://www.eharmony.com/singles/servlet/user/comm/archivematch?set=XXXXXXXXXX” X’s stand for the match’s unique user ID.

Take that Archive match HTML command line, if you are using a PC, you can scroll over the link, (by default right-click) and click “Copy Link Location”, paste that link into your word processor, remove the unique user ID of the match you do not wish to Archive, and paste the unique user ID of the match whom you do want to Archive.

Copy and paste that new Archive HTML command from your word processor, into your web page address navigation bar, click Send or Enter. Your match will move from your Communicating to Archived tab.

      Notes:
      1) I don’t know why eHarmony does not include an “Archive this match” link on the profile pages of matches with whom we are “Communicating”. I suppose it just makes it an easier interface to use to have all “Communicating” matches on one tab. However, I totally understand how the “Communicating” process can take weeks, months, or longer per each match, yet for whatever reason something in his or her profile page stood out and we don’t want to “Close” that match right away.
      2) Though, there may be some reason why we can only keep matches with whom we are “Communicating” either in the “Communicating” or “Closed” tabs using the eHarmony features as is. So please keep that point in mind. After all, if you “Close” a match with whom you are communicating, you can still later go back and look at his or her profile to see if anything has changed, and decide to “Re-open” that match for “Communicating” again later if he or she has not already closed your match as well. Sometimes that may be a better way to go.
      3) Though I agree with your logic, that it is good not to place too much emphasis on any number of matches who are stuck in the “Communicating” tab.
      4) I have tried the method walk-through I have posted for you, and it does work to move a match from the Communicating tab to Archived tab.
      5) Good luck with Archiving your “Communicating” matches.

**Addendum: Just now I have Archived two Communicating matches to test my walk-through method. However, it is worth stating:

      1) If either of those matches send me a communication, I don’t know if they will systematically be moved back to the Communicating tab.

      2) If either of those matches chooses to close me as a match, since they have already been moved to the Archived tab and I have enabled the eHarmony feature “Auto-Archive; Yes, please automatically archive matches that have closed me” I may not know that I have been closed until I open that match to see if I have been closed.**
