Poll 38: What if free weekends are 100% free?

The eHarmony Free Communication Weekends are awesome, but they can always improve. During FCWs, for example, non-subscribers are blocked from photos and from skipping to eHarmony Mail.

Here's a thought: Give everyone 100% access during free weekends

But what are the chances that, once trialling members see photos, they run in the oppposite direction?

“Opt-in” is a good idea. The problem is how to market it as a selling point. We know they hide the fact that they match paid members with free members.

EHarmony is afraid to give 100% of it away. More people will just realize sooner how crappy their product is.

Jennstar, eHarmony has run “This day only: register today and get 7 days full access free, no credit card required” events a few times in the past, albeit:

    * never in the United States
    * no more than twice a year

They have also run “register today and get 90 days full access free” during the launch of each of their country sites.

Just for the simple purpose of filling up their membership pool, they can and have given 100% of it away.

I don’t think it would matter if it was 100% free for 100% of the time (i.e. 365 days a year). It seems like very few people that sign up for online dating are serious (even if they are spending the money).

I have a pointer for middle-aged women on eHarmony. Quit submitting photos that show you with your hot young daughter. We keep thinking it’s you for an instant, lol
