Feature Request 10: Fix the “Final Message” bug

Ever since I joined eHarmony, at least in the past two years, the website is confusing when there are matches I can send a Final Message to and there are matches that I can’t. It’s awfully weird: some matches have no “Send Final Message” button. Today, through an inquiry with customer care, I confirmed that it is a bug, a programming error. I call it,

The “Final Message” Bug

It’s a big glitch. When some matches close us, sometimes there’s a
“Final Message” button, sometimes there isn’t. If you care about sending Final Messages as much as I do, this glitch becomes a problem.

Anyone here have a workaround for this?

I have a possible explanation for the “Final Message” bug. I have observed that those w/o the “Send Final Message” button don’t have a definite “match closed” timestamp. This is what’s causing the inability to show the final message. It may well be that those individuals closed their accounts and chose to permanently close their account. I understand that if you close your account (not just not renewing it), your matches are removed. That’s when you get a closed match for reasons “other” without an option to send a final message. Another reason for no “send” button is those in which eHarmony closes the account of the user (I’ve had 3 of those cases).

It turns out there is a simple explanation to this: eHarmony won’t let you send a Final Message to non-subscribers. That’s the FMB.

My recent experience is to the contrary, eHB. So, it appears as if the bug has been fixed…

I closed someone at the beginning of FCW 11. I got a final message from them and the e-mail was the day before I resubscribed, so I was a non-subscriber.

It would not be in their best interests to not allow this as it would potentially lure a non-subscriber into subscribing again to communicate.
