Tips and tricks: Does sending a Final Message work?

Do you think being being closed out is terrible? Look at me: as of this moment, 118 matches closed communication with me. A good number of them, according to eHarmony Blog’s July Poll, have lost their mind.

It’s annoying. When Match #83 wants nothing to do with me anymore because “I would rather not say”, it didn’t exactly raise my self-confidence. Nor did Match #94, who had “Other” reasons to reject me.

So you readers probably ask:

Do I send a final message?

Why yes, of course! I always check the fourth and or fifth choices. I send them as soon as I see them. Yes, everyone who closed me received a final message (unless I’m hit by the “Final Message Bug” again, that is).

Reason #1. It’s the only way your match can change his mind.

In eHarmony’s stiff communication process, closing a match has no undo button. Sure your reason, “I’m taking a break from dating,” is legitimate, but what eHarmony doesn’t tell you is, you cannot reopen the match anymore later when you want.

For me, this is the #1 reason to send the message: Give your match the chance to resume the communication. People are funny creatures because they change their minds all the time.

Reason #2. What’s three clicks compared to what you did so far?

I mean, you read his profile, send him questions, read his replies, answered his questions and so forth. You already invested time on this match — how can it hurt to click the mouse three more times? Send it already!

Reason #3. It works.

Out of 118 I had 5 people resume communication with me. No, I don’t care that my batting average sucks. What’s important is, I’ve said I think there is a connection and ask for reconsideration. For fence-sitters like 4 of my matches, it was all they needed to talk to me back.

So I recently found a loop hole on eharmony where I was able to send an email to a match that closed me a while back but I think has potential. He posted pictures recently and I think we have a lot in common. Do you think it went thru? Has anyone else noticed this loop hole? It appears you can keep emailing closed matches ( not that I would, thatd be creepy). Just curious if anyone knew about this.

Do these “final messages” get viewed by your match, or does he/she have to go to the closed match to see it?

They get a Final Message email, stating who sent the message and what the message is. However, there’s no other notification and yes, the match remains on the closed tab.

Your email is never published, shown nor shared.

Your message appears after two to five seconds for the world to see. In case it isn’t obvious, we are not eHarmony. Your message will not be sent to them, and no, we cannot help you with your account.
