Match.com’s free alternate service becomes Singlesnet

Apparently, as of May 17th, what was initially known as Down to Earth, the free version of the Match.com website software launched by Match.com, now redirects to their newly acquired company, Singlesnet.

By the time I got around to checking out Down to Earth, it had been rebranded as Stir.com and was more of a social networking type site where they tried to match you more on interests and where you hang out locally.  From what I could tell, it was visited mainly by very early 20-somethings in my area…

So, with the Yahoo announcement, yet another one bites the dust and online daters are left with fewer and fewer options to choose from…
