Archived Tab makes changes to closing matches and sending Final Messages

Hello:

I’ve been on eharmony for over 5 years and I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years but nothing like I’m about to describe.

I noticed from my account that they have an archived tab, that includes matches that you don’t want to concentrate a lot of time on and it also include your closed matches. But when a match closes you, you can’t see the reason why they closed you and that’s not good (for instance if one closes you because “they can’t view your pictures”, then you would release your pictures to them). Besides if you have to select a reason why you are closing a match, he/she should be able to see the reason why.

Also you had the ability to reopen a match if he/she sends you a final message, I call it “the second chance button” because for me, I would close a match among many reasons if I haven’t heard from a match within a certain amount of time. Only paid members can send a final message, so if he/she does that more than likely they are a paid member and you can react accordingly. Well guess what, we don’t have that ability right now.

I talked to eharmony customer service about an hour ago, she noticed the problems and said that it would probably change back soon but I guess if folks complain, they will make the change sooner than later.

Thought I would let you folks know about this!

Take care,
Ralph

    Hello again:

I guess it’s easier to post a comment to my own post about closed matches……

I just received an e-mail from Customer Service and here’s what they said:

    Dear Ralph,

Thank you for contacting eHarmony Customer Care.

I would be happy to assist you regarding matches.

I would like to inform you that users will also no longer be able to send Final Messages. This is good news, since most members found this feature more cumbersome than useful. With the Archive feature, matches who are eliminated before communication are not eliminated on the match’s side and in fact see no change or hurtful closed messaging.

However, I would like to suggest you to please reply back with the matches name and location that you wish to re open and we will send a re open request on your behalf. Our Email Customer Care agents will be more than happy to help you. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Actually I found the Final Messages to be very helpful! For one thing, if I closed out a match a few years ago and they want to reopen it (maybe because they decided to become a paid member again), I would reopen it because you never know. But from the message that I sent to Customer Care earlier today, they made NO mention about changing the mentioning on why a match closed you out.

I still say folks should contact EH and perhaps they can make the changes, I did!

    Take care,
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,

We have a thread going about this change on EHarmony Advice -> Using EHarmony.

I copy/pasted your 2nd post out there, as it contains more information than any of us knew so far.

    I hope you don’t mind.

    Thanks for the info!
