I have joined Eharmony and indicated I wish to meet people close to where I live, I have had more responses from people who live in other cities and some from other countries, this is very discouraging. Anyone else have this problem??? Maryann
MaryAnn, move your distance setting under Match Flexibility of your Match Settings to the highest Most Important setting. This will stop all the long-distance matches from arriving.

I have already done what you suggested, but I still get long distance contacs. I am getting discouraged with eharmony and wonder if I will ever hear from anyone who matches me, I am not into sports like hockey, wrestling, soccer and indicated such on my profile,guess who I get matched with!

MaryAnn, it reportedly takes 3 days for Match Setting changes to make full effect. Also, are you sure you entered the correct zipcode? If your matches are inappropriate (athletic), then follow the “troubleshooter” post elsewhere in this blog.
