Match.com buys Singlesnet

… and meanwhile, eHarmony still has no iPhone version and doesn’t work on mobile phones… or fully on Safari or Google Chrome.

But I digress. Today’s news’s takeaway is from a press release from Match.com: (WARNING: Buzzword Overload Incoming)

“Singlesnet has built a heavily trafficked site with an active and dedicated community of users. While Singlesnet’s traffic is currently in decline, we believe that by applying our category expertise we can reverse that trend, increase the site’s profitability and improve the overall user experience. This is more of a value acquisition than a strategic one, and Singlesnet will predominantly be run as a standalone business. Nonetheless, the addition of the site’s considerable traffic to our existing aggregation of traffic in this single category should open new monetization opportunities for Match.com’s collective portfolio of domestic online dating brands.” –Greg Blatt, CEO of Match.com

As I’m writing this, NO ONE in the SinglesNet Forums cares. Go figure this out.

If SinglesNet membership/traffic becomes Match.com membership/traffic (we don’t know how or if Match will do this), then all the big sites’ marketing plans and success metrics will be ruined.

You can not compare SinglesNet with eHarmony.

SinglesNet is a complete scam, a low quality online dating site.

Homepage says “#1 Visited Online Dating Site in the U.S.A. More than Match, More than eHarmony * Hitwise as of – Dec 2008″

Now traffic is in decadence, check it using Alexa.

They show you profiles of women but the screen says “*photos of this page may not be of actual Singlesnet members”, then when you register, you receive 3 fake messages from women.

If you try to read those messages, they say nothing, only hearts; then when you try to contact those women, the subscribe screen appears.

They are using the same tricks as AdultFriendFinder.

    It is purely about traffic.

Traffic allows higher advertising rates, provides more advertising impressions, ergo more money.

EHarmony is not serving the customers best interest, look at the BBB for the problems they have created. You can tell by their three day cancelation policy, anyone with such a policy knows they will sell you rotten goods and you will not know it and will have a difficult time canceling in time.

Be aware, you will also find yourself not being able to say anything because what you can say is structured..they decide what you say and whos profiles you view.
