I was trying to figure why our site traffic last Sunday (January 3) was more than 2.5× last Sunday and more than 3× the Sunday before that, … and in fact the highest daily traffic we’ve ever had since this blog started in 2006.
Over 6,200 readers came to the site last Sunday, whereas the best FCW in the past brought us only 4,000 readers in one day.
I saw the culprit last night.
On January 1, Google moved us to the top spot of their search results for the term “eharmony promotional code” on Google’s US searches. This search term is one of the most sought-after phrases related to EH, because
30 to 40 100s of other websites — many with huge SEO budgets — have commissionable promo codes that they would love for people to use.
I’m so gratified that Google has finally “calculated” that EHB is the top destination when looking for codes. What a great New Years present!
The hard part now is to convert this surge in traffic into a surge of discussions and articles that readers will find interesting.
By the way, our “site review” of eHarmony.ca has been in the second spot for the term “eharmony.ca” for several weeks now. I hope our Canadians readers have been learning a lot about the Canadian version.
