Can eHarmony trace me by contributing to this blog?

Is it possible for EH staffers and management to trace the source of each comment or thread via ISP or some other method? I would hate for them to be able to track down members being critical of their methods, then enacting the “we can cancel you for any reason at any time” clause.

    Hi Wyatt,

We completely understand why you ask.

The blogging software used in eHarmony Blog has been modified in several places to never show the email addresses or IP addresses of its contributors and commentators to anyone except its site administrators and editors.

For your information, the blog software only stores email addresses and IP addresses of comments because it helps fight comment spam. Articles do not store IP addresses. Lastly, the blog needs its writers’ email addresses during registration.

eHarmony, Inc will need the administrator or an editor password to see the email addresses or IP addresses stored in the site. Your email address or IP address is never sent via email to non-editors. We change admin and site passwords regularly, and site backups are stored prudently.

Wyatt, eHarmony cannot track you down through this site. They need to break WordPress security to do it.

There are things you need to do on your end, though. For tips on blogging anonymously read this article from the Electronic Frontier Foundation http://www.eff.org/wp/blog-safely .

Thanks for asking and we look forward to more of your posts.

    EHB
