I want the world to know I thank eHarmony from the bottom of my heart for this Free Communication Weekend. It proves you do care for your paying customers in helping us find the love of our lives.
As I type this I see that the eHarmony servers are heavily stressed from members on their mad rush before the end of the FCW. The server turned off some member photos to cope. I still hope to hear from seven matches — I hope they can still come in.
My stats:
OPEN – 17 matches (up 7 matches)
Waiting for match to start open communication – 9 matches (up 6 matches)
Send answers to 2nd question – 4 matches
Waiting for answers to 2nd question – 16 matches

Waiting for answers to 1st question – 181 matches
Closed at OPEN stage – 10 matches
Closed at stage 4 – 1 match
Closed at stage 3 – 14 matches
Closed at stage 2 – 12 matches
Closed at stage 1 – 51 matches
Total = 326 (up 43 matches)
# of days = 69
Average matches per day = 4.72 (up from 4.56)
Average cost per match = $0.103 (up from $.107)
Average cost per OPEN = $1.25 (up 51% from $2.52)
You see, ladies and gentlemen, how successful this weekend and this week was to me. Each match in OPEN communication only cost me a dollar and a quarter. Where on earth can you find a matchmaking service that cheap?
I sent communication to 55 matches during the promotion period and over 30 of them replied. Matches from as far as 27 July 06 returned and answered my initial set of questions from way before. What did I do? Most got a reply from me within half an hour.
I feel like a kid holding candy in my hand. I have a list of email addresses of 9 people. Nine leads. One of them might be the love of my life.
September poll
One answer in this month’s poll has taken a significant lead. If there’s no reply in 7 days, it means the guy has lost interest. If a week passed without an answer, it means the girl doubts that the two of you will hit it off. Though a nudge sends a message that you are still interested, 40% of the poll respondents says,”he is just not into you.”
Over the hoop
I overcame the matches drought by picking “Roman Catholic” instead of “Prefer not to specify.” Oooh why didn’t I think of that before? — Catholics who only want to marry within their group.
Match #52 update
Match #52 is such a flirt. When we went out last Thursday (our third time), at one point, my date acted like a playful sixteen-year old. I’m glad I held my control instead of grabbing my date and planting several kisses.
I did a crazy thing last Friday. I bought a copy of “the last book M52 read and enjoyed”: “Practicing the Presence of People” I feel dorky.
It’s a collection of the author’s experiences and reflections “showing how we can discover new things about those we love, understand them from the inside out, tenderly identify with their weaknesses, and celebrate that they too were lovingly made by the hand of God.” I have finished a third of it. Set against my spirituality I found many of its ideas offbeat. I might say the book’s core belief is MikeMasonism.
More on this match later this week.
