We’ve been spoiled by codes

It’s the third Saturday of the month again, which means it’s time for a new set of codes for August. That’s the good news. The bad news is that there are no codes below $19.95 a month this time.

“Anything over $15 a month is rip off for a dating site in this economy….” –Thomas

“They won’t give away anything lower then the 59 something for three months. Which is really a good deal if you look at it objectively…we have just been spoiled.” –Scott

“I said, ‘mm.. should i call back some other time when that $30 deal is available?’ and she quickly changed her tune, ‘looked’ some more and was able to secure the $30 deal, lol.” –cinder

“They wouldn’t give me any better offer.” –sexygogoboy

The fees for Match.com are the “regular” fees and not any “specials” that you may be able to get from them.

The best deal I’ve gotten with them was $25 for 6 months (around 08/07), probably a special promotion because I never subscribed before.

The next best deal I’ve gotten was $71 for 6 months (called customer service and asked them to “do better”). Along with this, was the special promotion that if you message 5 people per month during the 6 months and don’t “find that special someone”, you get another 6 months free. Their best monthly rate is then closer to $12/month or $6/month.

Really? I wish there was a Unofficial Match.com Blog or something or somebody who is OC enough to track these things … so we can compare notes.

    Yahoo! was what offered $9.95.

I predict that this year eHarmony will end up standardizing their price at $20 a month, with $20 monthly auto-renewal — like a monthly rent, including utilities.

Great to see you again, SingleGuyInNC. This site’s traffic leaped in July and we had to make changes to the site to scale back our hosting costs. One of them is Google Custom Search. I know the old search was frustrating so I thought I let you know.

Back to topic, the other place we made big changes to adapt is the promo codes page. It had become a mini FatWallet forum of sorts, with readers looking out for each other with tricks and codes.

“OC enough”? Not sure what you mean there. Keep reading…

I have shared experiences on other sites and what I have learned about them in the various comments and posts over the years but they tend to get buried and this IS the unofficial eHarmony Blog. :)

I looked for similar resources about Match.com and I could not locate any. Their advice on their site leaves a lot to be desired, to put it nicely, perhaps an indication of some of the issues that their site has. I did see a nice in-depth analysis of Chemistry.com at some point in time.

If you want to compare notes on a more individual basis (i.e. profiles and strategies off-line via e-mail), I am happy to do that. Need to trade e-mail addresses if that’s what you have in mind.

I wouldn’t mind starting up/contributing to an unofficial Match.com blog, either. A little competition among these dinosaur companies would be healthy. :)

The search on here was a bit frustrating. I tended to just use google with the “site” directive to try and dig for old info.

Summer was busy for me. Starting in July, eh? That’s about when I disappeared. I’m working my way backwards through the posts on here as I have time. My subscription lapsed, hence my absence and lack of interest. I wish my silence was for other reasons, like being too busy with too many dates. :(
