Obviously Eharmony customer service are never going to share the truth about who pays and who does not.
However since last but one free weekend (Memorial day May 24th weekend) I have zero matches that answered questions sent for initiating communication. From the 60-70 matches received, 6 or 7 have closed me, the rest did not take any action- neither looked my profile, nor closed it. And the matches I am still getting (most of them), look like they are non paying members or possess the signs of non paying members — scarce profiles, no pictures, not acting at all etc.

Hello passat1,
“On matchmaking Web site eHarmony.com, membership is up 20 percent despite monthly fees of up to $60″ — AP Newswire, 6 July 2009
Despite what the news says about how online dating is surging while the stock market is crashing, as online dating users we don’t feel it at all, do we?
The fact is that Alexa, Compete, Google Trends and Quantcast all say that 2009 eHarmony site traffic has fallen around 10% compared to the same months last year, ignoring the usual free weekend surges.
It’s the same thing almost with Match.com.
However, the charts say that the 2008 and the 2009 free weekends had around the same amount of traffic.
What can we conclude about this?
eHarmony’s business is and will be slow in 2009, and I would like to believe that they are doing all they can to lower prices so that the free weekenders can join and communicate with us. It’s up to each of us to stay and support the site, or leave and return to it when everybody else has.
