Feature Request: Badly Needed: Match Auto-Close

I know you want us to consider carefully before closing a match but you have to consider our preferences and behavior too. Please provide the following checkbox options that, when chosen, the system automatically closes the match. Clearing up our lists is a royal pain and closures let people move on.

  1. 2 or 3 weeks after a nudge.
  2. 2 or 3 weeks after a Photo Nudge.
  3. 2, 3 or 4 weeks of on reply to my FastTrack request.
  4. 2, 3 or 4 weeks without an action on my part.
  5. 2, 3 or 4 weeks after no reply from my match.
  6. Auto-close when my match closes his account.
  7. Auto-close when my match closes me (I never want to send re-open requests. That’s my prerogative.).

Put them under a section called “Matches management”. Not all these, sure. But, honestly speaking, in ALL these cases one, or both, of the people in the match is NOT interested, so close the match and let people move on.

Here’s a shareholder-level reason to auto-close matches: When both members close, the system can “archive” the match to cheaper storage and you can save lots and lots of IT resources.

    This will never happen…

How can the site convince inactive members to pony up a subscription if the system automatically closes those matches. Take note, the system took a lot of effort and processing to create that match, what’s its advantage throwing it away?
