eHarmony does not have 20 million paying subscribers

At least 4 people have retwittered this wrong information. So, please, The Economist, confirm your facts with Waldorf and revise your article.

P.S. If Waldorf does tell you how many paying subscribers eHarmony has in a given day of, say, March, my readers here would love to hear it.

I wonder if it even averages one million at any given time.

There continue to be many articles in the past few weeks/months talking about how online dating is on the rise. All the data I can see points to the exact opposite. Either that, or people have gotten excruciatingly and unrealistically picky about who they contact, which doesn’t make sense, as one would want to maximize your membership and opportunities.
