eHarmony main sponsor of “The Newlywed Game” TV game show, premiering on 6 April

I just learned that the ‘product placement’ I wrote about yesterday wasn’t an eHarmony scheme directed at lesbian couple Ellen and Portia at all. The Newlywed Game is in fact a TV game show that will premiere in less than 3 weeks.

Wow, eHarmony has a TV show now. Match, PlentyOfFish, SinglesNet, beat that! Even Google have no TV show yet.

The Newlywed Game presented by eHarmony.com title card

Carnie Wilson“Carnie Wilson will make her game show host debut on the new, modernized version of the iconic show, THE NEWLYWED GAME presented by eHarmony.com, which premieres April 6, 2009 at 6PM/5PM C. The highly-anticipated 40-episode series will include an updated set and an all-new bonus round where the winning couple challenges a ‘Goldywed couple’ (a couple that appeared on an original episode from the 1960s through 1990s series who have remained married ever since).”

(The show’s pre-launch FAQ)

So, no “big happy inclusion hug just yet” to eHarmony, as Dorothy Snarker puts it.

More proof that Hollywood is out of ideas. See also “Cupid” on ABC, which was originally aired in 1998.

I wish every question on the newlywedd program didn’t involve sex. Carney Wilson seems so into that
she doesn’t give the contestants topics relavent to
their lives and almost embarasses them with such
      personal questions.
