True.com settles class action lawsuit for $1.5M with customers incorrectly charged for renewals

“Under an agreement filed Friday, True.com will compensate customers who were incorrectly charged for services since 2003. Customers were incorrectly charged membership fees after canceling their accounts or after accidentally clicking on links, according to the federal lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Texas.”

    I tried True quite some time ago. It was worse than Match.com if that is saying anything. They kept pestering me with e-mails that someone sent me a message and that I would have to subscribe to see it. So, I did. There was no message from someone. I canceled my membership 5 minutes later and did everything I could to delete my profile and my account permanently.

    I’ve scoured most of the major ones and maybe a niche site may be more likely to do so but they would cater to specific interests and have a fairly low subscriber base to work with. Given the lousy response rates on all of the services, I’d stick with the ones with the greatest numbers of subscribers.
