Actually, Christian Carter is a great dating advice guru, helping millions of women throughout the world turn their relationships from disaster to strong and beautiful. He has written an eBook, Catch Him and Keep Him, and he has a number of programs designed to cover several specific issues, like how to bring your man from a casual relationship to a committed one, how to develop natural and lasting attractoin, how to make sure that YOU are ready love, etc. He also does live seminars in the LA area.

There are some not-so complementary reviews of his book and advice and several folks seem to think there are other better alternatives out there. From the little that I read on his site, some of the comments about not getting to the point seem to be quite accurate.

This is sheer conjecture but it seems like this caters more to the stuck in a rut relationship crowd and those who haven’t read NCW’s books and can’t see the mistakes they are making over and over again and then trying to patch over instead of taking a fresh approach and overhauling their attitude towards relationships.

I haven’t been on eHarmony in a long time… is he advertising on their site?

To be honest, I haven’t read any of his stuff, and I’m only getting my information second and thirdhand. The interesting story is that he’s promoted by David DeAngelo’s company. (Whose claim to fame, in a vast oversimplification, is the marketing of his pickup artist materials.) However, it seems that Christian Carter and David DeAngelo are NOT the same person (both are pseudonyms).

    Marketing makes strange bedfellows.

I personally don’t know for sure, have only logged in sporadically to my account in the past few weeks.

Don’t PUA materials sort of assume that you are dealing with the large part of the bell curve (I haven’t read any of their materials)? If a person is not a societal robot, then they won’t respond and it will fail?

One of the complaints I read was that his materials were not very to the point and it seemed like they were marketing materials for other programs to pay for. I certainly, as a man, am not going to pay to read his materials when they are geared towards women. If I ran across some woman trying to force a relationship on me when I know it isn’t going to work in the long term, I would run in the other direction. That said, I am curious to read what he has written.

How is the offline approach working, Scott?

Actually, when I’m coaching I encourage my clients to read dating books geared towards the opposite sex if just so you can understand where people are coming from and why they might make some of the assumptions they do.

I first came across David DeAngelo’s stuff, and then bought a copy of Catch Him & Keep Him. Strangely, there were no photos of Christian Carter anywhere to be found.

Shortly thereafter, I found a book at Borders called “Why Men Marry B*tches”. Apparently, Mr. DeAngelo had simply re-worded the entire book & sold it on the internet at triple the price.

Eventually, he had to produce a living & breathing Christian Carter, and this hunky guy shows up. (Can you say “Actor”?)

Ever noticed that these punchy names are all the same letters? David DeAngelo, Christian Carter, Rori Raye, Alex Allman . . . on & on.

I am shocked and disappointed that eHarmony has stooped to promoting this junk. They ought to be promoting materials on how to be authentically your unique self and connecting with another soul that’s a good compliment for you. There’s an old blues song: “Whatever it took . . . to get your baby hooked . . . it’s gonna take the same thing . . . to keep her!”

Thanks Chrissy, I share the same opinion. I receive the e-newsletter of Christian Carter and the e-mails go on and on forever without getting to any point at all! I was disappointed that eH pointed him out as a guru. His entire theme makes women feel they should be armed for a big stupid battle to get a man.
Relax folks, we want to find each other and have fun doing it ;)
He claims to have a magic formula for “natural and lasting attraction (NALA)” and uses a bunch of acronyms for his rhetoric programs. Just google for the rip-off reports on the web!
