Match Settings changes take 3 days to take full effect

The eHarmony software spans several computers and servers, and according to eHarmony, changes to ones Match Settings don’t take effect right away:

Dear Titans08,

Thank you for your post. If you ONLY want to receive matches within a 300-mile radius, it is necessary for your “How important is this to you?” answer to be set at “7.” A setting of “6″ still allows our system to employ match flexibility.

I do encourage, you, however, to leave your setting as is. That way, if it is necessary for us to employ match flexibility and if there is a wonderful match, say, 320 miles away, you will have the opportunity to be matched with her and decide if she is someone with whom you would like to communicate. By leaving your setting as is, you have nothing to lose (if you don’t choose to communicate with her, you can close the match) and everything to gain (she might be “the One”).

Of course, the choice is yours. If you do decide to change the setting to 7, it will take 3 days for this change to take full effect. If after the 3rd day you are still receiving matches outside of the 300-mile range, please do as Tantalus recommended and contact our Customer Care desk.

Whenever you need account assistance, you can e-mail our Customer Care desk directly through the Help link located at the bottom of all our Single site pages. Click on any topic, and you will see an “e-mail us your question” link above the Search button. Once your e-mail is successfully sent, you will receive a confirmation number.

All the best.
