1-800 Toll-free Phone Number to contact eHarmony Customer Service

Yes there’s a toll-free telephone number and eHarmony doesn’t want you to know it. The numbers are nowhere in their website. eHarmony accepts calls from customers from eHarmony US, eHarmony Canada, eHarmony Australia, eHarmony UK and Compatible Partners.

They are open every day between 4am and 12am PST. Be ready to wait though.

Of course, these are North American toll-free numbers. You can reach the company from overseas by dialing 011 1 626 795 4814.

If you’ve got a question on using eHarmony, the answer could be right here in the blog. Try our search box.

Seeking a refund? You will want to read our off-the-record “How to get a refund” primer before calling.

UPDATE: These numbers are also for the Compatible Partners website.

Actually, I’d say be careful to review each page of any website from which you are purchasing something. Watch for the check boxes that subscribe you to magazines, newsletters, etc. I got caught in one myself just by checking out a website. I ended up with tons of email from companies I never heard of selling things I neither wanted nor needed.

There’s a check box on the subscription page that lets you opt out of the magazines. eH customer service reps do not have access to the magazine subscriptions, so if you don’t want them, it’s best to be extra careful when subscribing and opt out in the very beginning.

Melissa, if you purchased a subscription using a payment plan, the ‘close account’ link will not appear until after you’ve made the final payment. You can close your account by calling the CS number, but you will forfeit any money you already paid and they will not pro-rate a refund.

Signing up for a payment plan is an implied contract, you agree to make all payments whether you’re using the service or not. Closing your account will halt any further payments, but you won’t qualify for a refund.

If you didn’t buy a subscription or paid in one lump sum, you can still close your account by calling CS. Just make sure you tell them that you want to CLOSE your account, as opposed to turning off the Auto-renew feature. The agent will try to talk you into staying with eh (that’s part of their job), but if you keep insisting that you want your account closed, they’ll do it for you.

The first thing a CS rep would ask you is the size of the FILE you’re trying to upload. If the file size is more than 5kb, it won’t work. File size is more than just the photo size, you can have a 4×6 print that takes up more file space than an 8×10. It all depends on the content of the photo: background detail, how many colors, etc. Generally, the more detail and colors you have in a photo, the more file space it takes up.

That said, do you get an error message when you’re trying to upload your photo? Have you double-checked to make sure you’re indicating the correct file location on your computer for the photo to upload from? Is your photo showing up on your ‘my photos’ page, but not on your profile?

You’d be surprised how many calls CS reps get about photos not showing up, then when they look at the ‘my photos’ page, they see the same photo uploaded three or more times because the member didn’t scroll down on the page far enough to see it.

If you’re still having problems, call the CS number. If you call at a time when they aren’t really busy, they’ll be more than happy to help you upload your photos. The least busy time is early on Sunday morning, unless it’s a free comm weekend, then you’re better off to wait until the free comm is over.

You can also email your photos AS AN ATTACHMENT to photos@eharmony.com, make sure you send them from the email address you use to log in, otherwise the photo team won’t know where they belong.

    Hi xeh,
Your explanation assumes Jack and Jill are both active. What if Jack hasn’t opened his matches or hasn’t signed in for a long, long time? Do they still receive each othre at the same time?
We all know of people who forget to turn off their matching.

  12. xeh UNITED STATES wrote:

If Jack and Jill both have matching turned on, yes, they will both receive the match at the same time. eH isn’t psychic, as someone else pointed out, so they don’t know if Jack and/or Jill failed to turn off their matching. If, however, Jack hasn’t logged in for a given period of time (I don’t know what that time period is, sorry), the computer automatically turns off his matching, closes his account and within 24 hours closes all matches he’s received that are still open.

So, as a courtesy to your matches, please turn off your matching if your are not going to be using the service. Even if you are persuing a relationship that you believe might be serious, give some consideration to both the person you are seeing and your potential matches; turn off your matching.

it’s very hard for you to close your account with eH, not only that, they’ll continue to charge you ( take money out of your account) without your consent! then you’ll have to spend time find their customer service No. through Google (there’s no any phone numbers showing on their own web.) and then argue with their agent for the refund and argue to close your account.

If you’re talking about an automatic renewal, yaya, it’s really very simple. When you call CS, just keep declining the offers they make you. They are REQUIRED to try to retain your business.

If you’re talking about a payment plan, however, once three business days have passed after the FIRST payment, you no longer qualify for a refund and the agent CAN’T give you a refund except under very specific, very extreme circumstances. If you want to close your account, just keep insisting that the account be closed and no further payments will be deducted.

Just keep in mind that it is the CS agents JOB to try to retain your business. There are certain offers they have to make in a specific order; part of their performance rating is based on making those offers in that order.

Getting a refund for an auto renewal is really simple. Call CS (the phone number is in the help section for paid subscribers) and tell them you didn’t want to renew. The agent will ask you why you don’t want to renew and try to get you to stay by making suggestions. Tell the agent you still don’t want to renew and request a refund. The agent will offer a 50% refund (they are REQUIRED to do this), decline the 50% and request a full refund. You’ll get a refund for the most recent auto renewal, your account will be closed and just like that, no more charges, no more matches and any open matches you have will be closed within 24 hours.

The CS agents aren’t there to give you a hard time, Ron. Yes, the are required to try to find out why you’re leaving the service, but I wouldn’t call that giving you a hard time. They are the first line of information for the product designers on how the service can be improved and where it is failing or doing well. I can’t tell you how many times a customer contacted me asking to close their account only to find out that the reason for closing was something that could be fixed very easily; they were getting matches outside their age range, their matches were too far away, they were Christians being matched with other faiths, etc. All of those things can be fixed with adjustments to the match settings and quite often, especially if a member is near the end of their subscription, a CS agent can extend the subscription, at no charge, so the member can determine if the fixes worked for them.

The philosophy is, it is better to keep a customer you already have than to find a new one.

Let’s face it, eH isn’t for everyone and, for too many reasons to mention, doesn’t work in every single case. But every piece of information a CS agent can get about how or why the system failed is a step toward correcting the deficiency. Before you blast me with ‘they never fix anything’, consider that a few years ago eH didn’t offer payment plans, now they do. Once upon a time there was no space for you to write your own responses to the first questions, now there is. Several improvements to the service have been made, because an overwhelming number of the members cited this reason or that for closing their accounts. If you’re expecting eH to change overnight, you’ll be disappointed; it takes time, money and information to make changes on a large scale. Some members won’t like the changes made, but they are made to appease the largest number of members. That’s just good business.

The simple fact that following a “retention flow” determines whether a rep keeps her job or gets fired is exactly what yaya is trying to say.

I wish for a magic password that a quitting customer can tell a rep and the rep will reply instantly, “Alright, Ron, I’m going to close your account, process your refund, and delete all your personal information. Is there anything else I can do for you today?”
