Tips and tricks: Insta-close

What do you call people who make final decisions on their dealings with others based on incomplete initial information? For example, someone who, after one look at a man, decides to refuse to talk to him and shuts him out completely?

Prejudiced.

If your subscription isn’t taking you anywhere, that is, you get one date out of a 100 matches, this is one thing you should look at. How quickly are you deciding on chemistry among your matches? Is prejudice getting in the way of your search?

There is somebody I know who found a fantastic girlfriend in eHarmony. He initiated communication with every single freaking match he had. That, friends, is of course key to increasing the likelihood of response, and thus, success. How many of us here do this? We invented the word “insta-close” instead.

I do not subscribe to the insta-close methodology (only if the match is totally unattractive in appearance to me and no amount of it being bad photography could make me feel differently) and I'm still batting 1 in 100 overall in terms of dates (more on this one of these days).

The ones that I have gone out with, I think that the experience was worthwhile but if I had responses from other matches that didn't communicate, some wouldn't have gotten as far as a date. So, I'm not sure if it is worth it to go as far as a date on a match your gut reaction is to close or that you feel like closing because there isn't much chemistry online. It's a tough call.
