Quantcast’s traffic numbers clearly show that last weekend’s Free Communication Weekend (October 31 to November 2) was unsuccessful compared to the one before (August 29 to September 1).
Sad news indeed. Better luck next time, I guess.

Perhaps this has something to do with the economic downturn? Maybe the election and job cuts also had something to do with this?
FCW would have worked better if they emailed everyone a week ahead of time, and made it from Thursday all the way to the next Tuesday and allowed the viewing of pictures for all members from the get go..
I don’t have hard numbers on hand (just matches delivered during that time period, which was a bit higher than recently) but I was pretty disappointed at what I got out of that weekend, having participated in several of the prior FCWs. I think only one match was a FCW’er that I got to OC with. There were a few delivered during that time that are still “in progress” but IIRC, just that one got to OC during the FCW.
I would agree that they need to get the word out earlier.
Showing pictures I think is a real deal-killer and possibly part of the reason why FCW doesn’t yield good results. If you are active during FCW, you can:
a) get an e-mail address
b) eventually get pictures
…all without paying eHarmony anything
Based on this, I don’t see what the fuss is about not showing pictures to non-paying members. As much emphasis as pictures get these days and as few that hide pictures, they might as well let everyone see them who will let others see them. It probably would convert people into paying members and increase their revenue.
I think that the bottom line is that Match.com and Yahoo and just about everyone else, you can see all pictures as an unpaid member and they offer free trials with full functionality, so eHarmony is behind the curve on this.
Since this article was written, eHarmony has decided to configure Quantcast to hide the traffic graph. So, sorry no, we cannot report traffic numbers like these in the future.
