I just have a quick question. I am not using eharmony anymore but had like 20 matches when I closed out/terminated my account. I forgot to “close” these active matches and there were two or three that had even sent me questions/comm/etc…
Can they still see my profile text and/or photos etc or does my account totally dissappear when I close it out for good?
Does anyone know? Thanks

Your profile, photos and previous communications are all still there on all your matches’ screens, whether “closed” or not.
Your matches can confirm this for you. I suggest you call one of the matches you met through the service and ask this person to find you in his/her match list.
To get yourself totally removed, you will need assistance from CS.
Hey I’m the original poster… When you said I do you scared me for a second I thought you meant YOU could still see MY profile (You don’t work for eharmony do you??)
Then I realized you must have meant you still see people’s profile who have closed out already… But my question is this: HOW you YOU know that they actually CLOSED IT OUT? if you can still see it? Eharmony does this double-blind thing and it really confuses the heck out of me sometimes…
The reason I posted this to ask at all is because when I was a member of eharmony I was pissed off after finding out that even if I am paying member some others I contact will not be able to contact me back… so I snuck in my personal website address and email address (which now I regret doing) because I am done and through with the site but still have like 20-30 some matches that I forgot to close out when i terminated my account and I’d like to get my privacy back (or to assure privacy, whatever you know what I mean…) but I don’t exactly call up customer service and tell them that right????
So I guess my only question is, does the DEAD/terminated profile still go around getting new matches in the future? maybe that is why I go so many dead matches is everyone there fake?? also how long after I terminate my account (I just did it today BTW) will my “current” matches not be able to see my profile information and pictures anymore or will it automatically CLOSE out the match (after all I did terminate my account….) in a few days? a week? anyone know? thanks

When you go through the online process of closing your account, you merely disable matching, disable your login and “close” all your open matches. All your photos, profile and previous communications are still there, visible to your existing matches, forever.
How do I know this? Simple — I’m dating my matches, remember? 
It’s a simple thing to ask each other the exact same question you asked.
Bill even said, you can call eharmony and they can flip a switch and reopen your account, just as you left it.
does the DEAD/terminated profile still go around getting new matches in the future? No, closing your account disables your matching. I’d like to very much assure you that you will get no “New eHarmony Match” and “Match Communication Received” email ever again.
How did you “close it out”? Just quit paying or did you specifically contact eH and ask them to close your account for good?
If you just aren’t a paying subscriber, go into your profile and remove your personal stuff (e-mail / website). That way, no one will be able to see that. Your profile isn’t “saved”, so unless a match saved that info, they won’t be able to see it anymore.
I closed it out by going to the account page, and then clicking on the little tiny “close” text in blue and followed the steps to close out… Wierd thing is eharmony said in a moment I will recieve a confirmation email and I will have to click on that to close my account, (like myspace does) but I never got a email from them (I get all other emails from eharmony…) and so I thought it didn’t close out… So I try to sign back in and it says my profile is closed…. but I never recieved the email confirming it?? So I try to see if I can “sign up” back in to check if my profile is erased but it says my email is already used and it can’t be used to sign in again… But it won’t let me sign in either so I’m locked out…
I just wondering because the poster above you siad matches can access the full profile text and photos even after I terminiated my account… is this true?
the short answer is that anyone you were ever matched with can ALWAYS see your profile- whether you closed them or they closed you, whether you are actively receiving matches or no longer a paying member. UNLESS you call eharmony to have your profile taken down.
and yeah, they system is still matching your profile with paying members even long after you leave. your profile doesn’t automatically leave the system when you do.

“close” and “remove” seem to have different definitions in eharmony world.

I was matched with a friend of mine on eharmony but I didn’t want her to know I was using this site so I deleted all my photo’s in hopes that she would not recognize me from my profile. If she has not already viewed me will my changes reflect in her account before it’s too late, or does she see the originial account and only my future matches see the changes? Please help. Any advice…
In the Closed section, there are a number of names that I closed, and names that closed me. Some of them I can look at, some of them read “This profile is no longer available” and there is no profile or picture. What is the difference – how can I try to make my profile inaccessible if I choose to?
Similar to “avoiding”, I am not ready to be public with using eHarmony. So far, I have been matched with 6 or 7 women I know, a couple of them good friends. Each time I saw their profiles come up, I immediately archived and then closed the match. What I am reading is that this did not prevent my profile from being accessible to them at any time. Needless to say, I am frustrated. Why does eHarmony make it so difficult to understand that we have to research and discuss these issues on a nonofficial blog?
