Not many people know that you can rewrite the eHarmony compatibility questionnaire.
Yes, you can. Please call eHarmony Customer Service and request it. They’ll ask why. Possible reasons that might work are:
- “I took it over a year ago.”
- “I’m joining the service this week.”
- “My matches since I began a week ago are really really bad.”
- “Most of my matches are ____ junkies — your system is not working.”
- “I’m not happy with the matches I’m receiving. Do something or I won’t renew.”
eH’s help system says this:
In the interest of keeping the Personality Profile an honest assessment of your inner personality, we are very hesitant to allow any sort of changes to the Questionnaire. The more one tries to affect the profile results by guessing which answers will yield those results, the less accurate the profile becomes.
and the Close account screen says this:
if you haven’t experienced the success you anticipated with eHarmony, there are probably adjustments that can be made to your account to help make your experience more productive. But in order to help, we need to know what’s wrong.
It means they do.
If the rep agrees: the next time you sign in, you’ll see page 1 of the test again. Writing the test again preserves all your existing matches and communications, but you have NO ACCESS to these until you finish the test. We do not know what will happen if you flunk it though. (We bet, though, paying subscribers who retake the test always pass.)
Tips for answering the questionnaire.
Scott reminds us
Oh, and, if you retake the test… copy your profile and your self-selects. You’ll need to reenter them during the test process.
Thanks, Scott. If the rep denies your request, then do the following:
- Login and close the account, under My Settings/Account Settings.
- Confirm it twice. As you might expect, they’ll say everything to change your mind.
- Write the test again using a different email address and different details. Email addresses cannot be reused.
Steps 1 and 2 are necessary only because the eH Terms of Service says, “You will create only one profile.” There’s the chance that someone is matched to both profiles and reports it. It’s your decision if you skip 1 and 2.
(If the rep denies your request, we’d like to hear about it. Can you please leave us a comment?)
