I got an “interesting” match feedback questionnaire today, you know…the one that pops up randomly when you click on a match to determine your interest in them more specifically, only this time, it popped up when I closed a match and the first part changed for that situation, something I don’t recall having happened in the past (getting a feedback survey for a match I definitely was not interested in):
Here is the new first question they ask if you end up closing a match they want feedback on:
Why are you putting on-hold/closing your match with MatchName from MatchPlace ? (choose all that apply)
a. He/She has never responded to my invitation to communicate
b. He/She has stopped communicating
c. I am no longer interested in communicating with him/her
d. I am not interested in using eHarmony at the current time
e. I am pursuing communication/a relationship with someone else
f. Other (please enter your answer in the textbox below)
The rest of the survey is the same. Anyhow, there you go. Choices a and d seem redundant. They could pick up a from the close reason and d…well, if you aren’t interested in using eHarmony…why are you logged in and closing matches? That implies that subscribers are altruistic and don’t just disappear off the face of the planet like they normally do but I guess if you are meticulous/courteous enough to log in to close matches then you probably won’t mind answering their survey questions, either.
One more dimension/piece of information to feed the eHarmony database in hopes of getting better matches…(one hopes…)
[Update 10-4-2008]
I sent another message to a match that FastTracked but didn’t reply and got a survey and these questions:
How would you characterize your current communication with MatchName from MatchPlace? (choose all that apply)
a. We have stopped communication for now
b. We are communicating through the eharmony site
c. We are communicating through email
d. We are communicating on the phone
e. We are communicating face to face
What kind of relationship do you have with MatchName from MatchPlace? (choose all that apply)
a. No relationship
b. Friends, but no chemistry or romantic future
c. Friends, with potential for romance
d. Dating, but nothing serious yet
e. Dating exclusively
f. We are a committed couple
g. We are engaged
On a related note, I haven’t gotten one of the “How is eHarmony doing?” surveys in a long time. You know, the one where they ask if you would recommend it to your friends, how confident do you feel they are going to match you up with someone and the wonderful text-box to type in your feelings of rage or elation for their service…yeah, I miss that textbox and the catharsis from letting them know just how I feel about them at that moment in time and the knowing that my complaints will probably go unheard (goodness knows how many times I mentioned problems they needed to fix that have yet to be addressed).
